My riding career started out in 1970 when my sister and I began taking lessons.  We would ride any horse they offered us!  They had a vast array of different breeds there but in 1974 my family purchased our first horse, a Morgan gelding named Lauralee Yankee Man. It was a coincidence that we became Morgan owners but have loved the breed from Day 1 and are now celebrating over 40 years with the Morgan Horse.

Since that time, our family has owned quite a few Morgans and we became as versatile as our horses learning to ride Saddle Seat, Western, Driving as well as continue some Hunter pleasure riding where it all began. We also have bred a few Morgan foals that we kept and trained or sold and helped others develop a love for horses and the Morgan breed.

I got involved with the EFC when the former secretary stepped down and I allowed my name to stand and I have been in this position for a few years now! I am proud of the accomplishments of the EFC and particularly proud of participating in some of the cheque presentations for Guelph University (in my hometown province of Ontario).

Because of horses and the EFC I have met many wonderful people and many of them have become lifelong friends. There is no greater feeling than to be a part of something good; it’s good for the soul plus it helped develop volunteerism in my children which I am especially proud of.
